چکیده

This study aimed to produce bacterial cellulose from paper waste sludge (PWS) as a method of utilizing the source remaining pulp in material. Initially, PWS was hydrolyzed by sulfuric acid create an enriched-reducing sugar hydrolysate. One-factor experiments were conducted with fixed amount (5 g) investigate influence hydrolysis conditions, including water, addition, temperature, and retention time, on production yield reducing sugars. Based these results, Box-Behnken model designed optimize reaction. The optimal conditions 10 ml/g solution (30.9%) at 105.5 °C for 90 min time 0.81 (gGE/g PWS), corresponding conversion 40.5%). Subsequently, 100 ml filtered neutralized hydrolysate used culture (BC) using Acetobacter xylinum, which produced 12 g/L cellulose. calculated ratio weight that reached 33.3%. structure obtained BC analyzed scanning electron microscopy (SEM) X-ray diffraction (XRD) indicate formation nano-cellulose fiber networks. research proposed combined convert into cellulose, demonstrating potential utilization sustainable industries added-value products.

Production of bacterial cellulose and enzyme from waste fiber sludge

BACKGROUND Bacterial cellulose (BC) is a highly crystalline and mechanically stable nanopolymer, which has excellent potential as a material in many novel applications, especially if it can be produced in large amounts from an inexpensive feedstock. Waste fiber sludge, a residue with little or no value, originates from pulp mills and lignocellulosic biorefineries. A high cellulose and low ligni...

Bacterial Cellulose Production from Industrial Waste and by-Product Streams

The utilization of fermentation media derived from waste and by-product streams from biodiesel and confectionery industries could lead to highly efficient production of bacterial cellulose. Batch fermentations with the bacterial strain Komagataeibacter sucrofermentans DSM (Deutsche Sammlung von Mikroorganismen) 15973 were initially carried out in synthetic media using commercial sugars and crud...

Bioconversion of Waste Fiber Sludge to Bacterial Nanocellulose and Use for Reinforcement of CTMP Paper Sheets

Utilization of bacterial nanocellulose (BNC) for large-scale applications is restricted by low productivity in static cultures and by the high cost of the medium. Fiber sludge, a waste stream from pulp and paper mills, was enzymatically hydrolyzed to sugar, which was used for the production of BNC by the submerged cultivation of Komagataeibacter xylinus. Compared with a synthetic glucose-based ...
